Sablefish/Black Cod

Alaska black cod, also known as sablefish, is a prized white fish with high oil content and distinct rich flavor. The richness comes from the high Omega-3 content, sablefish has more heart-healthy Omega-3s than even salmon! The texture is flaky and velvety and has a beautiful snow-white color. Black cod is a favorite among foodies for its distinct flavor and features. A premium whitefish choice for smoking, poaching, sautéing, or roasting.

Long-liners harvest black cod from early March to mid-November. Black cod is bled, cleaned and iced shortly after catch. Our processing centers are located near key fishing grounds so fish are processed within a short time of landing to preserve peak freshness and flavor.

To ensure we are providing sustainably caught Alaska black cod to our customers, we offer product traceability from the initial harvest area all the way to our customer’s door. Our fish is certified sustainable by Alaska’s Responsible Fisheries Management and by the Marine Stewardship Council.
